Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the web, including her own release single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her perform on Rihanna references. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared as a guest on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. The music video then released in September. In November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. She then released on November 13 two new singles titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was made available with a video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times in the first 7 days. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
